🏡 Eltham Garden Spotlight: What We Used for This Backyard Makeover
Backyard Makeover in Eltham | Product Spotlight – ID Garden & Landscape Centre
See how we transformed an Eltham backyard using Field Granite steps, landscape rock, screenings, mulch, and garden blend soil from ID Garden Centre.
At ID Garden & Landscape Centre, we love seeing local gardens come to life — especially when they showcase the best of our Australian-made, locally sourced materials. This recent Eltham backyard makeover is the perfect example of how natural products can transform a space into something timeless, functional, and beautiful.
Here’s a look at what went into this project — and why these materials were chosen.
Field Granite Sawn Stone Steps
Clean, durable, and beautifully textured, these Victorian-quarried steps create a striking focal point while blending seamlessly into the natural slope of the yard.
- Why we used them: Slip-resistant and structurally strong, these steps offer safe access between levels without compromising on style.
- Bonus: The sawn finish gives a refined edge to this otherwise rugged material — perfect for naturalistic designs with a polished finish.
Field Granite Landscape Rock
Used throughout the garden to create visual anchors and natural borders, Field Granite boulders help tie the layout together.
· Why we used them: Their irregular shape and natural variation add character and help mimic the contours of a natural landscape.
· Tip: Placing rocks partially buried gives a “settled in” look and prevents them from shifting.
🌾 Honey Granite Screenings 20mm
These warm-toned screenings were used to finish garden paths and sitting areas.
· Why we used them: The soft golden hue complements native and coastal plant palettes, while the 20mm size offers stable footing and excellent drainage.
· Suits: Low-maintenance paths, native gardens, or surrounds for raised beds.
🌱 Garden Blend Soil
This project needed a robust soil for mixed planting — from native shrubs to seasonal edibles. Our Garden Blend Soil provided the ideal base.
· Why we used it: It balances structure, drainage and organic content, making it versatile for garden beds in full sun or shade.
· Good to know: It’s made right here in Victoria and blended for our local conditions.
🍂 Reground Bush Mulch
The final layer? A thick topping of Reground Bush Mulch to lock in moisture and finish the look.
· Why we used it: It’s 100% recycled green waste, screened and processed by RePurpose It, with a natural bush texture that looks great in native or informal gardens.
· Bonus: Suppresses weeds, feeds the soil, and looks fresh year-round.
