🌼 Spring Soil Prep: How to Rejuvenate Garden Beds Before Planting

At ID Garden & Landscape Centre, we’re gearing up for our grand opening just in time for spring — and there’s no better time to get your garden beds ready for a fresh season of growth. Whether you're refreshing tired soil or starting new garden beds, early spring is the perfect time to give your soil a boost.

Here’s how we recommend getting your soil in shape — using locally sourced, sustainable products we trust.

🌱 Step 1: Clear & Loosen the Soil
Start by removing weeds, old mulch, and any compacted top layers left from winter. Break up the surface with a garden fork or tiller to improve drainage and aeration.

Pro Tip: Don’t over-till. Aim to loosen, not pulverise — healthy soil structure helps retain water and nutrients.

🌿 Step 2: Feed with Organic Compost

For a nutrient-rich base, apply Diggers Compost — our go-to organic blend made from recycled green waste. It feeds the soil, improves structure, and supports microbial life that plants love.

Use it to:

  • Revitalise tired soil in established beds
  • Boost nutrition in veggie patches and flower beds
  • Mix into clay-heavy areas for better water retention

Step 3: Top Up with Premium Soil

If your beds have sunk over time or need more bulk, now’s the time to add fresh soil. Our Garden Blend Soil is ideal for most planting projects — a balanced mix of compost, loam and sand.

Perfect for:

  • Raised garden beds
  • General landscaping and planting
  • Veggies, herbs, natives, and ornamentals

You can also blend it with site soil or compost to tailor it to your needs.

🍂 Step 4: Mulch to Lock It All In

Once you’ve added compost and soil, finish with a 5–7cm layer of mulch to hold moisture, suppress weeds, and protect your garden from spring heat.

Choose from:

·      Eucy Mulch Fine – Neat appearance, ideal for formal or tidy beds

·      Eucy Mulch Chunky – Long-lasting, great for native gardens and rougher areas

·      Reground Bush Mulch – Natural look and excellent moisture retention

All are locally produced by RePurpose It, helping us close the loop and keep your garden sustainable.
